SNL Pits GTA 6's Jason Duval Against Zelda's Link for November Bragging Rights

According to GTA BOOM, Saturday Night Live featured GTA VI’s Jason Duval opposite Zelda’s Link in a six-minute Weekend Update sketch. The Dakota Johnson-hosted episode had the characters join Colin Jost and Michael Che to debate which game deserved November’s attention.

Marcello Hernández played Jason, promoting GTA VI’s mayhem while brandishing a toy rocket launcher and mocking Zelda’s emphasis on puzzles, GTA BOOM reports. Mikey Day’s Link responded by championing Hyrule’s magical creatures, fairy bottles and puzzle-solving.

GTA BOOM says the premise contrasted GTA VI’s November 19 launch with the Ocarina of Time remake’s November 5 release, joking that other games had cleared the way for Rockstar. The publisher cautions that the sketch is entertainment rather than informed coverage, noting that it incorrectly relegates fellow GTA VI lead Lucia to background-character status.

For GTA BOOM, the segment’s significance lies in its mainstream reach: Weekend Update expected viewers to recognise GTA VI and its release window without much explanation. The publisher presents Jason’s appearance as another sign of how widely the game’s launch has entered popular conversation.
